Born in Uxda (Morocco, 1964). Full Jorge HermosillaUniversity Professor of Geography (Regional Geographic Analysis) of the Universitat de València in the Department of Geography.

He has extensive experience in university management. He was secretary of department, vice-dean of Infrastructures of the Faculty of Geography and History, Dean of the Faculty of Geography and History, and is currently Vice Chancellor of Territorial Projection and Society.

Founder and director of the research unit "ESTEPA" (Studies of the Territory, Landscape and Heritage). His main lines of research are strategic planning and territorial development, and the study of historical irrigation, from a landscape and heritage perspective. In this line of work has developed, together with his research team, an extensive work of analysis of studies of traditional Mediterranean irrigation, at different territorial scales: Valencian Community, other autonomous communities, the Spanish territory and the Tunisian.

He has directed more than 130 research projects, of which 11 are competitive and 6 international; More than thirty have focused on the study of hydraulic heritage, in particular Valencian, Spanish and Tunisian historical irrigation. He has directed a dozen strategic territorial plans, both municipal and regional.

He directs three specialized collections in this line of study (Ministry of Environment-Agriculture and Ministry of Culture), of which he emphasizes Valencian Historical Irrigation (15 issues published). In 2007, the Social Council of the Universitat de València awarded the researcher of the year award.
