ICIAM celebrates the Industry Day at the Universitat de València

The Industry Day is a talk about the most important innovations of mathematical technology in the industrial world. The great potential of mathematical tools has been showed to the industrial world.

The Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences celebrates the Industry Day. This day focuses on disseminating the knowledge about mathematical technology and showing to the industrial world the great innovative potential of statistic mathematical tools, big data and MSO (Modelling, simulation and optimisation).

This activity has been celebrated for the first time in the International Congress of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM) that hosts the Universitat de València to open new communication channels between researchers and potential users of mathematical tools.

Some dignitaries were present at the opening ceremony such as the Principal of the Universitat de València, Mª Vicenta Mestre; the General Director for Industrial Technological Development, Javier Ponce; the President of the International Council for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, María Esteban; and the President of the Spanish Network of Mathematics-Industry and Director of the Technological Institute of Industrial Mathematics, Peregrina Quintela.

The Principal has pointed out that “this congress proves the importance of the Faculty of Mathematics of the UV, the applied mathematics and the research groups due to the fact that they have been able to bring such an important congress to Valencia. In addition, she highlighted that these events give visibility to the Universitat de València within the university community as well as in the industrial and business world. This is very positive for our university and our university community.

Those who attend the Industry Day can enjoy a wide variety of conferences which are in charge of the most important companies in the sector such as Fujitsu, Gore, Banco Santander, Siemens, NEC and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, among other enterprises. They will explain the results of their last researches and advances as well as the benefits that they produce.
