Margarita Soler has been a member of the Department of Constitutional Law, Political Sciences and Administration of the Faculty of the Universitat de València since 1993. She is tenured professor since 2001 and has been director of the Department from 2008 to 2014. She was the director of the Programme in the Ministry of Education and Science from 1989 to 1992. She has been an advisor of the Legal Advisory Council of the Valencian Community. In October 2007, the President of the Valencian Community named her President of the Legal Advisory Council and became the first women to work in that position.

Her main subjects of research have been the equal representation of the genders, the political participation of women and the electoral law.
