The new edition of this seasonal university, an initiative of the Universitat de València, developed in collaboration with the city of Ontinyent and with the participation of the Valencian Provincial Council and different local entities, will open an intense multidisciplinary debate, over five days and in different venues, from Monday, on the differential elements between Ontinyent and Vall d’Albaida.
The vice-Principal of the Office for Territorial Projection and Participation of the Universitat de València, Jorge Hermosilla; the local coordinator for Education, Sport and Youth of Ontinyent, councilor Óscar Borrell; the deputy for Education and Social Inclusion, Empar Folgado; and the director of the Ontinyent Campus of the Universitat de València, José Cantó will inaugurate this Monday, October 14th, the ninth edition of the Universitat de Tardor (Autumn’s University) of Ontinyent, which, over the next week, will offer various debates, free and open to all citizens, in this town, under the title ‘Talent, innovation and territory’.
The Universitat de València has organised this edition of the Universitat de Tardor of Ontinyent (UTO), with the collaboration of Ontinyent City Council, Caixa Ontinyent, the Fundació Universitària Campus Ontinyent, the InnovatiOnt Chair and the Vall d'Albaida Institute of Studies.
The UTO is an academic initiative of the Ontinyent Campus aimed at the city and Vall d'Albaida, which has its origin in the interest of the Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, to promote education, research and knowledge transfer in relation to the singularities of each territory, thanks to the contributions of teachers, students, professionals and citizens of this locality and its region.
This year's slogan aims to refer to the importance of the talent of people, institutions and collectives as the driving force behind innovation and the backbone of the territory.
The lectures, with a multidisciplinary approach, will take place throughout the week in the Aula Magna of the Ontinyent Campus and the Caixa Ontinyent Cultural Centre.
The inaugural conference, which will take place at the Caixa Ontinyent Cultural Centre next Monday, 14th October, at 12:00 p.m., will include a conference on Globalització i les cadenes de valor (Globalisation and value chains), by Càndid Penalba, president of the Associació d'Empresaris Tèxtils de la Comunitat Valenciana (ATEVAL, Association of Textile Entrepreneurs of the Valencian Community) and the community employers' association.
On Tuesday morning, two seminars will be held in the Aula Magna of the Campus: The Teaching Seminar and the Nursing Seminar. The Teaching Seminar, coordinated by Ana Mª Botella, will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a lecture under the title Soundcool: una ferramenta col·laborativa per l'aprenentatge musical (Soundcool: a collaborative tool for musical learning), and a workshop by Nuria Lloret and Jorge Sastre.
The Nursing Seminar, coordinated by Antonio Merelles, from the Universitat de València, will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a conference on Intervenció i participació comunitària des de l'Atenció Primària de Salut (Community Intervention and Participation from Primary Health Care), in which he will participate along with Ana Esplugues Cebrián, also from the Universitat de València.
Wednesday, October 16th, will be a special day, with a popular race through the Ontinyent Campus, which is coordinated by Pep Crespo.
On Thursday, the Aula Magna of the Campus will host an Economics Seminar coordinated by Mª Teresa Sanchis and Maica Bas, which will begin at 11:15 a.m. with the Chair InnovatiOnt: Presentació d'estudis realitzats per a la innovació i configuració de territoris intel·ligents (InnovatiOnt: Presentation of studies carried out for innovation and configuration of intelligent territories). This will be followed by a prize-giving ceremony for the Degree Final Project and José Ginés Mora, doctor from the Universitat de València, from the Centre for Educational Research, will give a lecture entitled La universitat: suport del talent i la innovació (The university: support for talent and innovation).
In the afternoon, on the same day, the Caixa Ontinyent Cultural Centre, under the coordination of José Cantó and Josep Calatayud, will host, within the framework of the UNISOCIETAT-IEVA Seminar, the conferences La patrimonialització de la cultura festiva (The heritage of festive culture), given by Gil-Manuel Hernández, from the Universitat de València; and El Patrimoni Festiu: l'evolució de la Festa (Festive Heritage: the evolution of the Festival), given by Antonio Ariño, also from the Universitat de València.
The ninth edition of the UTO will include, on Friday, a Sports Seminar, which will take place in the Aula Magna of the Campus, under the title Talent i coordinació en l’esport (Talent and coordination in sports) and the coordination of Ferrán Calabuig and Pedro Pérez. Leonor Gallardo Guerrero (UCLM) will give a lecture on La tecnologia, l’emprendoria i la investigació al servei de l’esport (Technology, entrepreneurship and research at the service of sport), and Roberto Luna Arocas will speak on La gestió del talent en l’esport (Talent management in sport).
This seminar will end with two round tables, moderated by Roberto Luna Arocas, on El talent com a transformador de l’experiència vital (Talent as a transformer of life experience), directed by Ruth Aguilar Fulgencio; and Canviar d’altitud. Passió, Innovació i Creativitat per a volar ben alt (Change of altitude. Passion, Innovation and Creativity to reach the sky), by Raúl Carbonell Rodríguez, from Tot Globo.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the Caixa Ontinyent Cultural Centre will host the IV Workshop Economia Valenciana (Valencian Economy Workshop), which will be inaugurated at 9:30 a.m. by Miguel Lorente, Director General of Economy; Jorge Rodríguez, Mayor of Ontinyent; Jorge Hermosilla, vice-Principal of the Office for Territorial Projection and Participation of the Universitat de València; Reis Gallego, Secretary of the ACV Tirant lo Blanc; and Antonio Carbonell, President of Caixa Ontinyent.
Two expert sessions will be held. The first, under the title Cap a una millor governança del Clúster Tèxtil. Com treure valor de la gestió del Clúster? (Towards a better management of the textile cluster. How to obtain the worth from the management of the cluster?) by Vicente Blanes, director general of AITEX; Júlia Company Sanus, director of IVACE; and representatives of ATEVAL.
The second session will be on Les cadenes de valor global al Clúster Tèxtil: estratègies i casos d'èxit (Global value chains to the textile cluster: strategies and success cases), by Càndid Penalba, CEO of Cotoblau and president of ATEVAL and the Consejo Intertextil Español (CIE, Spanish Intertextile Council); and José Pla, Professor of Business Organization at the Universitat de València.
The workshop will be closed by José Cantó, director of the Ontinyent Campus of the Universitat de València; Teresa García, general director of Cooperativism and Entrepreneurship; José Pla, professor of Business Organization at the Universitat de València; and Helena Àvila, from the Fundació Nexe.
About Seasonal Universities
The Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, has, over the last few years, set up a network of seasonal universities a name derived from the fact that they focus their activities on the same season of the year — which offer an interesting programme of free days, aimed at citizens of all ages.
Nowadays, the network is made up of 12 universities, located in as many municipalities and distributed throughout the different regions of the province, both inland and along the coast. Each one of them develops its programmes around a monographic theme linked to its particular idiosyncrasy, history and culture, under the coordination of a specialist in the subject.
The network consists of Alzira (Environment); Xàtiva (Cultural, oenological and natural tourism); Ademús (Landscapes of opportunity); Aras de los Olmos (New technologies, Astronomy and Development); Gandia (Laws of the World); Sagunt (Heritage of Humanity); Bunyol (Musical Heritage); Alaquàs (Analysis of the Castell-Palau d’Alaquàs); Llíria (Music, society and territory); Enguera (Rural development and new technologies); Ontinyent (Talent, opportunities and development); and L'Eliana (Smart city). Thanks to the collaboration of the Valencian Provincial Council, the network will be made up of 20 sites in 2020.
