Laura Mercé Moreno Serrano. English Studies

Laura Mercé Moreno Serrano | 11 june 2018

Since I was a child, I’ve been keen on language and the Anglophone culture. Due to this fact and the encouragement of my English teacher from Secondary School, I decided to study the Degree in English Studies. This has not only given me the possibility to study in depth the English language and literature, but also has provided me the chance to develop my critical thinking. I have been part of the programme Erasmus+ and I have participated in several academic events organised by the Faculty that has contributed to my formation, such as conferences, seminars and other activities. Furthermore, the undergraduate degree final project and the internship have been extremely useful in terms of defining my professional orientation. Particularly, as I was interested in teaching a foreign language, I could apply my knowledge in the Official School of Languages of Valencia, where I was able to teach English in a real professional environment. Currently, thanks to the formative experience in the Degree of English Studies, I am studying a Master’s Degree in English Secondary Education and the following year I hope that I will course the Master’s Degree in Advanced English Studies (MAES) offered by the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication.

In conclusion, the Degree in English Studies has helped me to discover that my vocation was teaching a foreign language and has encouraged me intellectually thanks to the subjects and the supplementary experiences that are available for students.
