The Kant-Gesellschaft choose Pedro Jesús Teruel as first Spanish executive and he has entrusted the organization of one of its international congress

The Kant-Gesellschaft, dean scientific society in the field of Studies about Immanuel Kant, has chosen the Professor Pedro Jesús Teruel of the Universitat de València as member of its board of directors. It was founded in 1904 by Hans Vaihinger. The Kant-Gesellschaft has become one of the leading philosophic societies of the world due to its membership and relevance in its activities.

Among the initiatives of the society, there are the publication of the prestigious magazine Kant-Studien and the organization of an international congress every five years, where hundreds of researchers from a dozen countries meet each other.

The next Kant-Geselschaft Congress, the 14th congress celebrated, will take place in 2024 in the Immanuel Kant birthplace (currently Kaliningrad, then was Königsberg) on the occasion of the thinker 3rd centenary.

The annual Kant-Gesellschaft assembly that chose the Professor of the Department of Philosophy Pedro Jesús Teruel took place on October 19th in Mainz. The tradition is to choose one German research, so he is the first Spanish member in the board of directors in more than one Century of existence. In the same assembly, it was decided the place of the 15th International Congress, in 2029, with Teruel as main organiser, in the Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences of the Universitat de València.

The Universitat de València counts on a large tradition in the Kantian Studies. In the second half of the 20th Century, the work of Immanuel Kant took a highlighted place in the renovation of the philosophic studies, not only as teaching theme but as research line of researchers that have provided with leading contributions. In 2018 took place the 4th International Congress of the Sociedad de Estudios Kantianos en Lengua Española (SEKLE) (Kantian Studies in Spanish Language Society), which scientific body, Revista de Estudios Kantianos (Kantian Studies Magazine), is based in the Philosophy Department. Soon the Kant-València International Centre will be founded, which will carry out a regular programme of activities around the Kantian work, its reception and its connections with current problems. The first international days planned will revolve around German classical philosophy and the projections of Kantian work in quantum physics.
