The Madrid Book Publishers Association awards Adela Cortina

The Madrid Book Publishers Association decides unanimously to award Adela Cortina, full professor in the Universitat de València, with the 22th Antonio de Sancha Award due to her contributions to ethical values in business, education, culture, and public life. The award ceremony will be held on November 7 in the Instituto Cervantes of Madrid.

Adela Cortina is a full professor of Ethics and Political Philosophy in the Universitat de València and the first woman to be member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences since founded in 1857. She is the director of a master’s degree and doctoral studies on Ethics and Democracy, and head of Étnos Foundation. Cortina has also received Honorary Doctorates from 12 national and international universities, and was part of the jury of the Prince and Princess of Asturias Awards on both Communication and Humanities, and Social Sciences. Moreover, she was awarded with the Jovellanos Essay International Award in 2007, and with the Essay National Award in 2014. In May 2018, she received the Valencian Literary Critic Award, in the category of Essay and Critic, due to her book ‘Aporofobia’

Some of her works are Ética mínima, Ética sin moral, Ética aplicada y democracia radical, Ciudadanos del mundo, Por una ética del consumo, Ética de la razón cordial, Las fronteras de la persona, Justicia cordial, Neuroética y neuropolítica and ¿Para qué sirve realmente la ética?, which received the Essay National Award in 2014.
