Equestrianism ("hípica" in Spain) is one of the most traditional Olympic sports. Currently, three equestrian disciplines are part of the Olympic Games programme: Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing; and one is part of the Paralympic programme, the para-equestrian discipline.

At the moment, the disciplines that are part of the equestrian federation are: show jumping, dressage, eventing, raid, doma vaquera, ponies, combined driving, reining, vaulting, horseball, para-equestrian or classical dressage, TREC, working equitation and equestrian tourism.

The Universitat de València participates in the Spanish University Championships.
