A study of the Research Group on Sport and Health of the Universitat de València (headed by professor Juan Carlos Colado) and the Hepatic and Transplant Surgeon Unity of La Fe Hospital has been awarded with the best scientific publication of 2017 by the Spanish Association of Surgeons. This is the first work that considers physical activity within the life quality of patients who have had a liver transplant. Top level tests and a pioneering world-wide training methodology were used for the research.

The study, under the title Combined resistance and endurance training at a moderate-to-high intensity improves physical condition and quality of life in liver transplant patients, has been published in Liver Transplantation, one of the most relevant journal on surgery and liver transplant in the world.

Ángel Moya, coordinator of the Hepatic-bilio-pancreatic Surgery Unite in the Hospital General of Castelló, and the doctorate student Diego Moya, graduated in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, collected the prize during the 23th National Surgery Congress held on 12 to 15 November in Madrid.
