Human resources within the Doctoral programme

Research lines:

  • Advanced Optometry and Clinical Applications of the Vision Sciences
  • Optical Methods in Optometry and Contactology
Material Resources and of support available for doctoral students
  • Advances Optics Laboratory: Laboratory with a capacity for 36 people, with endowments for carrying out work placements in Biomedical Optics.
  • Visual Perception Laboratory With capacity for 18 students, endowed with 9 complete places for programmers.
  • Optometry Offices: 11 complete offices, with capacity for 8 students. Each office has a armchair, phoroptor, complete proves box, projector, keratometer with video system, water sink. Moreover, there are centralised material for all laboratories, including 2 field screeners Goldman, a computerised field screener, a FDT field screener, air tonometer and Corneal topographs.
  • Contactology Office: with 18 work placements for the adaptation of contact lens.
  • Low Vision Laboratory, with capacity for 18 students.

Moreover, there are different research laboratories associated with the research lines.

Computer rooms.
The centre has a room available for students, with 16 work placements, and two rooms for teaching and video-projector (16 to 18 places).

Centralised library.
the Burjassot Campus has a centralised library on scientific issues, where all the bibliography and scientific publications associated with the research lines of doctoral students can be found. Moreover, doctoral students can make use of the wide offer of telematics services which makes the Library Service of the UV available for them, fundamentally through different data basis of scientific publications of the field of health sciences, as MEDLINE, PUBMED, etc.

Optometry Unit of the Lluis Alcanyis Foudation
During the academic year 2008-09 the Optometry Unit of the Lluis Alcanyis Foudation of the UV has been start up. This Unit, which opened its doors to the public during the first term of 2009, will develop an extensive aid and teaching work. Among its facilities four cabinets provided with the most advanced technology of visual analysis stand out. The unit is endowed to host the carrying out of doctoral thesis of clinical projection in the field of Optometry and Vision Sciences.
