Aims: The aim of this doctoral programme is to create an adequate formation to promote the research in life quality for dependent groups because of disability, ageing, families with youngsters with development disorders, chronic diseases, or palliative care at the end of life. On the other hand, there is the aim of becoming interlocutor between the university and the society in training and research of life quality in sensitive groups.

Description: Doctoral Programme in Social and Health Care in Dependency, a doctoral programme which has been being taught for an academic year and a research line in Research in Physical Activity and Sport are integrated and reinforced with this proposal (RD99/2011). Both, due to their recent implantation, have not been able to opt for a quality or Excellence Mention. The suitability for this programme to be offered in the UV is due to the fact that their thematic is one of the centres of reference at an European and state level. Recently, the university which proposed this programme has received, maybe, the most relevant prize and recognition that may be bestowed to a public entity: the Telefónica Ability Awards. It means a recognition for excellence in the care for sensitive groups. Therefore, this programme is offered where a greater recognition to the teaching, researching and of management in the area for treating diversity exists. The starting programme focused on social care to dependent people was the only in this thematic: a generalist and multidisciplinary character being th eonly one with a researching perspective “health and social” on a state level, since few existing doctoral programmes opted for an approach exclusively focused on health.
