María García Monera, researcher in Geometry and Topology in the Department of Mathematics, conducts this workshop at the Faculty of Mathematics on the Burjassot Campus.

The workshop consists of two parts:

- the first part is dedicated to the introduction of revolution quadrics, some of which the students already know, such as the cone, the sphere and the cylinder. In this part we will see conic curves as sections of the cone and we will know how we can construct the surface of revolution they generate.

- in the second part, attendees will have the opportunity to build some real models of the surfaces seen in the first part from some families of sections. Using templates, and with paper and scissors, the different sections will be cut to then reconstruct the surface.

Finally, there will also be a mathematical route through the interior of the Burjassot Campus as a test to be able to do one of those offered by this UCC+i in the city of Valencia.

Target audience:  4th grade ESO mainly, it can also be adapted to other levels
maximum number of attendees:   30
Place:   Faculty of Mathematics, Burjassot Campus of the University of Valencia
Duration:   1h 30m
