Some conferences analyse in Law the keys to achieve a socially responsible financial system

The Faculty of Law of the University of Valencia has organised the “II Conference Cycle: Sustainability and Law” on November 18 and 25 to discuss the social responsibility of companies and analyse how to achieve a socially responsible financial system. Among others, the importance of the European Union taxonomy regulation for sustainable finance, the United Nations guiding principles on business and Human Rights in Latin America and the United Nations global pact together with corporate sustainability will be discussed through of the 2030 agenda.

The conferences have been organised by the research group “Social responsibility of the company: towards a socially responsible financial system” (Prometheus Project of the Valencian Government – 2021/13).

The presentations of the session on the 18th include Catherine Malecki, private law professor at Rennes 2 University (France), and William Vega, national human rights officer of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. Cristina Sánchez, executive director of the UN Global Compact Spain, will close the conference with a presentation entitled “The United Nations Global Compact and corporate sustainability through the 2030 Agenda”.

The second day, “Sustainability and Company Law”, will be held on November 25 (12pm – 2:30pm), with the participation of Juan Ignacio Peinado, Professor of Commercial Law at the University of Malaga; Andrés Recalde, Professor of Commercial Law at the Autonomous University of Madrid and Antonio Roncero, with the same academic rank at the University of Castilla-La Mancha. The latter will close the cycle of conferences with the presentation “The link of the remuneration of administrators to sustainability and non-financial performance criteria of companies”.

The meeting on November 18 will take place at the Ignacio Albiol Room on the 5th floor of the Faculty of Law, and on November 25 it will be in the “Joaquín Tomás de Villarroya” Hemiciclo Room on the 1st floor of the same centre.

The direction of the first session is carried out by Rosario Serra and Juan Bataller, professors of Commercial Law at the University of Valencia. And in the case of the second meeting, also the professor of Commercial Law at the institution Josefina Boquera.
