Researchers of the Spanish Type Culture Collection (CECT), the PHDs David R. Arahal and Teresa Lucena Reyes, have been invited to the GCM 2.0 type strain sequencing project workshop that will take place from the 21 to 30 November 2018 in Beijing, China.

This workshop is part of the 8th Symposium organised by the WFCC-MIRCEN World Data Centre for Microorganisms (WDCM) of the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Science.

The international project of type strains sequencing lead by the Global Catalogue of Microorganisms (GCM), intends to bridge the existing gap in the microbial biodiversity regarding the representativeness of genome sequencing of type strains and to promote the research to deepen the analysis of the genome data. The invitation of taxonomists, microbiologists and bioinformaticians promotes the collaboration in terms of data analysis and the publication of the results of the genome sequencing on a worldwide level.
