Work placements

Work placements are essentially a training activity for the students, who are supervised by a tutor at their company or institution, and by an academic tutor of the University of Valencia. Their main objective is to enable students to apply and to help them complement the knowledge they have acquired throughout their academic training, whilst at the same time utilising their acquired skills that have prepared them for the professional world, facilitated their employment and encouraged their entrepreneurial ability.

The Universitat de València considers these work placements an important and necessary part of the learning and preparation of its students, as well as a way of connecting with society. Because of this, the Universitat de València has its own regulations for these practices. Each school or faculty has a commission that academically promotes and supervises these placements.

There are two types of placements: curricular and extracurricular. The curricular practices are configured as academic activities integrated in the relevant curriculum (graduate and postgraduate), which correspond to a module or subject. The extracurricular practices are those which students can carry out voluntarily during their studies (graduate and postgraduate) and that, although essentially similar to the curricular practices, are not part of the curriculum.

In compliance with Decree 26/2016 of July 28 on the amendment of the system for the protection of children and adolescents, for work placements involving contact with underage persons, students must obligatorily submit a certificate from the Central Registry of sexual offenders issued by the Ministry of Justice.

These work placements are regulated by the Work Placement Regulation of the Universitat de València.
