Under the title of Viticultura: Innovación, cultura, mujer y sociedad (Spanish for Viticulture: Innovation, Culture, Women and Society), the Universitat de València presents the first edition of the Universidad de Invierno of Requena (UNIRE, Spanish for University of Winter of Requena). The UNIRE is the fruit of a close collaboration between the Universitat, the Requena City Council, the Regional Ministry of València and Caixa Popular.

The UNIRE is a meeting point between teachers, professionals, students and citizens of Requena and its surroundings. It takes place the 20th and 21st February 2020.

During these two days, wine culture will be approached from different perspectives: from its history and evolution to its most social and economic aspects. But, most importantly, the increasingly significant role that women are playing in this millennial culture will be addressed.

This first edition of the UNIRE will feature the participation of teaching staff of the Universitat de València and wine industry professionals of the region with a strong compromise with the territory and the wine culture.

The Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society, promotes this free academic action, strongly linked to training, research and transfer of knowledge. It must be highlighted that one of the main keys of this action intends to consolidate itself in the city of Requena and its region.
