The University Institute of Applied Modern Languages (IULMA), together with the departments of Spanish Philology, French and Italian Philology, Catalan Philology and English and German Philology, organizes the VIII International Congress of Hispanic Lexicography, which will be held June 27, 28 and 29 in the ADEIT of the University of Valencia.

The Congress of Hispanic Lexicography brings together specialists in Lexicography from all over Spain and from many American and European countries, with the continuing purpose of promoting debates on any practical or theoretical dictionary-related issue. On this occasion, in addition to the usual sections found in previous congresses, there will be a monographic section dedicated to bilingual lexicography. The Spanish Association of Lexicographical Studies (AELex), chaired by Cesáreo Calvo Rigual, full professor of Italian Philology at the University of Valencia, promotes this biennial congress since 2002.

The Congress will feature the presentation of more than 150 papers and also three plenary sessions by professors Dolores Azorín (full professor at the University of Alicante), Cecilio Garriga (full professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona) and José Antonio Pascual (full professor at the Carlos III University of Madrid, member of the Spanish Royal Academy (RAE) and director of the NDHE, the New Historical Dictionary of Spanish). There will also be a round table on "The status of lexicography", in which three prestigious scholars, Concepción Maldonado, Humberto López and Sven Tarp, will discuss the present and future of the discipline. The Congress will close with a special session at the headquarters of the Valencian Academy of Language (AVL) in the monastery of San Miguel de los Reyes (Valencia).
