The Smartphone and Green Chemistry Conference highlights the importance of alliances between laboratories and areas of knowledge of the Humanities and Sciences

The Faculty of Geography and History hosted this week the Smartphone and Green Chemistry Day, organized by the Chemical Solutions in Archaeometry, Geology and Forensic Science (ArchaeChemis) group, directed by Professor Gianni Gallello, from the Department of Prehistory, Archeology and Ancient History of the University of Valencia. The Conference is one of the dissemination activities generated by the PROMETEO research project that they have been awarded (2019-056) with the aim of developing basic studies of green analytical chemistry and the treatment of color data from photographic images that are obtained as the use of Smartphone as an analytical tool. The Conference program served to meet researchers and research groups that apply physicochemical and photographic studies to understand color, present in archaeological pieces, works of art, food or pharmaceutical products, among others.

This explains the great diversity and interdisciplinary profile of the Conference, which highlighted the importance of scientific collaboration for the development of cutting-edge lines of research in which disciplines such as chemistry, physics, heritage conservation and restoration, history or the history of art, come together in common objectives and goals and in accordance with the research of excellence in this field. The presence of the Institute of Materials Science of the University of Valencia (ICMUV) in this Conference, in line with its participation in research projects directed from the Department of Prehistory, Archeology and Ancient History and the Department of Art History, gave visibility to the relevance of this alliance between disciplines and areas of knowledge that, when working together, offer crucial data from the historical, cultural and artistic point of view.
