“FROM THE TERRITORIAL RESOURCE TO THE TOURIST PRODUCT IN A BIOSPHERE RESERVE”

The University of Valencia will be present in the Valencian territory, also in this year 2021, thanks to the Universitats Estacionals programme, which has remained faithful at all times to the Valencian society, bringing the scientific production of the UV to a total of 20 venues spread throughout the province of Valencia. In this programme, promoted by the Vice-Rectorate for Territorial Projection and Society, the themes of the different conferences have been organised according to the demands of the different towns in order to make them as attractive and interesting as possible.

The origin of the UPAT must be linked to the declaration of the Alto Turia Biosphere Reserve in 2019 in this territory and, therefore, the topics to be discussed will revolve around what this declaration entails. This second edition will deal with how to transform the natural and heritage resources of this territory into a sustainable tourism product, compatible with the objectives of a biosphere reserve, and avoiding mass tourism, in order to boost the local economy and try to stop depopulation.

On this occasion, the session will consist of three invited talks and a round table. All of them will have an informative focus and will be aimed at people who live or work in or around the Reserve, as well as managers of protected areas, researchers, students and teachers interested in the conservation of natural and cultural heritage and its enhancement.
