Education understood as a debate. Between public and private
Course encompassed in the 36th Summer University of Gandia
Overview:
Education is and has been a complex issue that has been discussed in many debates. This complexity roots from its traditional double dimension: On the one hand, the private dimension aiming for individual liberties. On the other hand, the public dimension that searches equality. Combining both concepts is mandatory in a democracy, but agreements are necessary to achieve this activity. The contents are more and more complex and innovative, and therefore it is more difficult to agree on certain subjects. It is still necessary, though. The coordinators of the activity are: Juan Manuel Fernández Soria (professor of the Department of Comparative Education and History of Education of the Universitat de València) and José I. Cruz Orozco (professor of the Department of Comparative Education and History of Education of the Universitat de València, POLISOC).
