Biografia

Senior lecturer on Public International Law and International Relations, University of Valencia; Investigator advocate in claims related to Tibet and Burma before the Spanish National Court, Hight Court, Constitutional Court and European Court of Human Rights. Particularly the line of research pursued regarding universal jurisdiction has not only generated a series of results in the research and teaching fields, but the knowledge gained has been taken to legal practice, specifically in three lawsuits for which Esteve is responsible for the research, authorship and presentation: two lawsuits on the international crimes committed in Tibet and one lawsuit lodged against the military Junta of Myanmar. All this has resulted in a clear transfer of results to legal practice, which is visible in the actions taken by several central courts of Spain’s Audiencia Nacional. He has participated as judge in the Permanent People’s Tribunal on Sri Lanka, Bremen, Germany. Other main research lines are, Business and Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law. At the same time he is participating in different national and international research projects mainly lead by Professor Ramón Chornet of the University of Valencia.

He has published dozens of articles in journals and book chapters, such as, “Causes and first effects of the reform of universal jurisdiction principle by the Ley Orgánica 1/2009”, Spanish Yearbook of International Law XVI, 2010, Martinus Nijhoff Publishers, 2012, pp. 19-54; “Tibet”, Oxford Bibliographies in International Law, Ed.
