Exhumando el silencio
"Exhuming Silence. Memory, Science, Identity"

Over the last fifteen years the Grupo Paleolab® has taken part in near thirty historic memory recovery and has exhumed near two hundred victims and missing people. The majority of these have been identified The exhibition, called “Exhumando el silencio” (Exhuming Silence) has been conceived as a means of teaching whose finality is to disseminate the carried-out scientific and technical work through pictures and videos of work fields and laboratories with a diachronic vision of the forensic identification methods. Following three topics (memory, science and identity), it is aimed to give visibility to the issues related to those disappeared, the significant participation of different forensic sciences in a transverse process of research, and the value of giving the remains back to the families. All these actions are performed within a legal context in which justice and the Spanish Government have not taken part, leaving families aside. In this sense, “Exhumando el silencio” objectives are to give support to the education community in order to explain recent history and its relationship with the present so that democratic values are strengthened.
