The ChemiNova initiative, which will study the deterioration of Europe's cultural heritage due to climate change and wars, is holding the ChemiNova SummerSchool programme from April 7th to 10th to provide participants with skills to identify, monitor and address damage to heritage sites using innovative technologies and methodologies. The seminars of the first three days will be held online with no limit to the number of participants, and up to 20 students will be able to participate in the practical training that will take place during the last day at la Nau de la Universitat de València.

The educational programme blends theoretical knowledge, practical exercises and expert-led discussions to enhance participants' ability to contribute effectively to the conservation of cultural heritage. It is possible to register via the following link: https://cheminova.eu/news/

The expert-led master classes will take place online via Zoom, with unlimited places. April 7th session will focus on climate change and conflict impacts on cultural heritage, while the 8th will be about damage and risk assessment methodologies.

The 9th day will focus on the use of digital tools like Reflectance Transformation Imaging, Reflectance Spectroscopy, X-Ray Fluorescence, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies.

The on-site demonstrations of the ChemiSensing and ChemInspection tools at a cultural heritage site at La Nau will take place on the 10th and only in this case 20 students will be able to participate.

Students will receive access to digital resources and will be encouraged to stay engaged with the ChemiNova project through webinars and future training opportunities.

ChemiNova aims to develop an intelligent computational system that goes beyond current technologies to address the structural and chemical damage to European monuments and heritage collections caused by two specific human-made threats, such as climate change and civil conflicts. The Horizon Europe initiative will run from February 2024 to January 2027.

ChemiNova is funded by the European Union through grant agreement number 101132442. The views expressed are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union. Neither the European Union nor the granting authority can be held responsible for them.
