    Diario La Ley.

The author warns of a dangerous drift fraught with risks in the correct understanding of the LOPDGDD. The first of these consists in losing sight of the profound constitutional meaning of the fundamental right to data protection. On the other hand, the GDPR contains more than 50 references to national legislation. A significant part of the adaptation of the GDPR to national language is to be found in the area of sanctions and there are material aspects of the GDPR that require its insertion into our legal system. That is why underestimating its importance, attributing it a secondary value, relaxing our state of alertness, will be a mistake with tragic consequences.

    Optics Communications. No.Volume 436, 1 April 2019, Pages 248-252

In this paper, we evaluate experimentally and analyze theoretically and by simulation the demultiplexing of LP01 and LP11 modes in a 850 nm few mode optical link when a standard single-mode coupler theoretically designed for 1550 nm operation is used. The simulation analysis indicates a feasible conversion efficiency higher than 98% for the LP01 mode and 100% efficiency for LP11 mode. These results are experimentally validated considering different off-the-shelf optical couplers configured in 99:1, 90:10, 80:20 and 60:40 coupling ratios. Experimental analysis of the optical couplers demonstrate adequate functionality in correspondence with the theoretical analysis, exhibiting a good...

Experimental analysis of the optical couplers demonstrate adequate functionality in correspondence with the theoretical analysis, exhibiting a good near-field pattern and modal profile for the LP01 and LP11 modes. The mode purity observed was 98.4% for the LP01 mode, and higher than 90% for the LP11 mode. The 90:10 optical coupler configuration shows best mode purity with the minimal insertion losses.

Sustainability. No.Special Issue Smart Mobility for Future Cities

In order to achieve the objectives of Smart Cities, public administrations need to take measures to regulate mobility, which undoubtedly requires a high level of information and sensorization. Until the implementation of the connected vehicle takes place, it is still necessary to install sensors to obtain information about mobility. Bluetooth sensors are becoming a useful tool due to the low cost of equipment and installation. The use of Bluetooth sensors in cities, with short distances between sensors, makes it necessary to propose new classification algorithms that allow the trips of pedestrians and vehicles to be differentiated. This article presents the study carried out in the city of Valencia to determine the use of motor vehicles in the historic center and propose a new classification algorithm to distinguish between an onboard Bluetooth device and the same device carried by a pedestrian when it is not possible to use the travel time for the classification due to the short distance between sensors. This causes very similar or even indistinguishable travel times for vehicles and for pedestrians. We also propose an algorithm that allows vehicles to be classified according to what type of trip is made always through the historical center of Valencia, whether it is to make a shorter itinerary through the city or to access the center for any type of business. This algorithm would enable the Origin-Destination matrix of an urban network with short distances between sensors if they are available in all entries and exits. Likewise, the results obtained have allowed to positively evaluate the algorithm defined to distinguish between trips made by a pedestrian or a vehicle in a city, using the MAC address of their mobile devices with very short distances among sensors. The results of this study show that it is possible to use Bluetooth technology, with low cost installations, to evaluate the use of the city by motor vehicles.

  • Designing artificial intelligence. Challenges and strategies for achieving regulatory compliance

    Ricard Martínez Martínez

    (2019). Revista

Revista Catalana de Dret Públic. No.2019 (58). 64-81

This article analyses the repercussions of artificial intelligence on law and fundamental rights. In the face of negative, reactive or catastrophist visions, it proposes an approach based on the regulatory compliance from the design inspired by the methodology of data protection from the design and by default.

  • SMART-ASD, model and ontology definition:a technology recommendation system for people with autism and/or intellectual disabilities

Javier Sevilla; J. Javier Samper; Gerardo Herrera; Marcos Fernández

    (2018). Article

International Journal of Metadata, Semantics and Ontologies. No.Volum: 13 Número: 2 Pàgina inicial: 166 Pàgina final: 178

There are many studies that encourage the use of mobile device solutions to improve the skills of people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). There are a number of apps that may be useful for people with ASD, some specifically designed for them, and others not. The main goal of the SMART-ASD project is to assist in the selection of adequate technology and all related accessories. In this project, the users' data are maintained into an ontology. This ontology also includes information about devices, apps, and protection. The system is a hybrid recommendation system that guides parents and professionals in the selection of the adequate technology. This paper presents the SMART-ASD model...

  • Special Section on ITS Services to Smart City Context [Guest Editorial]

Luis Felipe Herrera-Quintero ; Jose Javier Samper-Zapater ; Miroslav Svitek ; Walid David

    (2018). Article

Ieee Intelligent Transportation Systems Magazine. No.Volum: 10 Número: 2 Pàgina inicial: 4 Pàgina final: 5

The seven articles in this special section focus on new trends and developments in the intelligent transportation markets. Since the earliest of times, transportation has changed and revolutionized society and industry. Many of technology advances were focused on transportation and their means (road, rail, air, water, etc.) even, today there exist several areas of the knowledge that are focused on it. As time goes by, new terms have been established where technology is present as well, for instance, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Smart Cities, Smart Territory, Blockchain, Internet of Things, virtualization, Cloud computing, Intelligent Vehicles, embedded computing, Deep learning,...

As time goes by, new terms have been established where technology is present as well, for instance, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Smart Cities, Smart Territory, Blockchain, Internet of Things, virtualization, Cloud computing, Intelligent Vehicles, embedded computing, Deep learning, etc. For that reason, with this special section in the ITS magazine, we want to continue showing new advances that will allow to people every day to find new services inside of the cities or even outsides of them, it means that, through the presented papers it will be possible to harmonized how the concepts in the digital world should be oriented in order to generate a best scenario to live.
