    Los Andes University organized on November 19-20 of 2012 an International Seminar on Road Safety in Bogotá (Colombia), with the support of Corporación Fondo de Prevención Vial, the Latin American Development Bank, EMBARQ, Universidad del Norte, Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the Colombian Ministry of Transport.     Los Andes University organized on November 19-20 of 2012 an International Seminar on Road Safety in Bogotá (Colombia), with the support of Corporación Fondo de Prevención Vial, the Latin American Development Bank, EMBARQ, Universidad del Norte, Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the Colombian Ministry of Transport. The event was a very interesting discussion with experts from France, Spain, US, Canada, Peru and Colombia on some of the latest advances in road safety research from very diverse perspectives. Researchers highlighted the importance of multi-disciplinary approaches; the relevance of good data collection and management; the role of advanced simulation and modeling; and the opportunities provided by sustainable transport, among other issues. The seminar had a second day, in which participants discussed ways to create and expand a road safety research network for Colombia, with connections with international research centers. Professor Francisco Alonso participated in this event with the conference "The investigation of the human factor in road safety: Evidences for intervention"

    In 2007, ETSC (European Transport Safety Council) started a campaign on drink driving, called Safe&Sober. In light of the Eurpean Union's road safety target to halve road deaths by 2020, the objective of this activity is to raise awareness amongst policy makers, the private sector as well as key opinion leaders for a systemic approach to reduce alcohol misuse in road transport, especially in commercial road transport. In the framework of this campaign, ETSC has organized, together with the Catalan Traffic Service, an international seminar on the implementation and use of alcohol interlocks, to be held in Barcelona on May 31, 2012.     From 24th to 26th of November, 2011, the Fourth International Conference on Risk Prevention Behaviors PRECOVIR'11 Road, was held in Valencia, Spain. Professor Alonso presented the research paper on: "Forgiving" Roads. The paper highlights on removing black spots (high accident areas), communicating gender differences in travel habits, and the elderly and their relation to the objective experience and conceptualization of road accidents. Other professors involved in presenting the research included Cristina Esteban, Constanza Calatayud and Maria Luisa Ballestar.

    With the title "Multidisciplinary approach to safety in transportation" and under the slogan "Bus Station Security: all responsible," the Infrastructure Technologies and Human Factor Symposium (ITFH) was held on December 1st - 3rd, 2010 in Angers (France). Organized by the University of Angers in collaboration with the Préfecture du Maine -et -Loire, Symposium, along with Professor Alonso and Professor Cristina Esteban as a member of the Organizing and Scientific Committee. The inaugural lecture was given by Professor Alonso, whose title was "Enhancing observational procedures in road safety research Focused on the driver"
