The National Institute of Traffic and Land Transportation (INTRANT), recently constituted in the Dominican Republic, has held its first meeting on 19 July, 2017, which was attended by the Director of INTRAS, Dr. Francisco Alonso.

During the meeting, chaired by the Minister for Public Works, Gonzalo Castillo, the Executive Director of INTRANT and engineer Claudia Franchesca De Los Santos presented to the Council, among other issues, the conformation of the functional structure of the Advisory Committee and its Subcommittees, as well as the Plan of Priority Actions, based on the National Road Safety Strategic Plan.

This Priority Action Plan seeks to increase level of awareness of the population about the problems by means of campaign, educational and training level of users, the safety of vehicles through an adequate state and maintenance of them, road safety, through upgrading sign posts and passive safety, as well as the traffic accidents victims care system.

INTRANT is working along with the Ministry of the Presidency, in the Transportation and Mobility Plan that complement the Strategic Road Safety Plan, and besides, it will present collaboration agreements with universities, international bodies, national and international institutions, foundations, among others, explained the engineer Franchesca de los Santos.
