Description:

On Tuesday, 22 February, at 10:30 a.m., the NOSUM project team will hold a 1.5-hour workshop at the Burjassot-Paterna campus, aimed at university youth, in which they will talk about chemical submission (the use of drugs to override the will of another person), the drugs that are normally used for this purpose and test the kit developed by the MODeLic research group for the detection of the drug GHB in drinks.

At the end, participants will receive a set of kits that can be used any time they feel their drinks may have been contaminated.

To register you will need to fill in this short survey.

NOSUM Project

GHB is one of the most commonly used drugs in crimes where the aim is to override the will of the victims. This compound, also known as liquid ecstasy, is colourless and imperceptible to the palate when dissolved in drinks. For this reason, the MODeLiC research group of the Interuniversity Research Institute for Molecular Recognition and Technological Development (IDM) and the ScienceFlows group, both from the Universitat de València, have launched the NOSUM project, funded by the Ministry of Health within the National Plan on Drugs and the Valencian Innovation Agency, with the aim of developing and evaluating a fast, reliable and easy-to-use kit that allows to quickly identify whether a drink has been contaminated with γ-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB).

The use of these kits in a real environment by participants will ensure that they meet the needs of the end users: young people, especially women.
