Almost 400 members of the university community donate blood during the UV Blood Donation Promotion Week
Universitat de València has welcomed the special conferences on blood donation of the Blood Donation Promotion Week on 2, 3 and 4 December at the Blasco Ibáñez, Burjassot and Tarongers campuses The initiative registered a remarkable participation: 378 members of the university community donated blood, almost 150% compared to the first time.

Blasco Ibáñez campus registered 148 donations with 85 new donors; Burjassot campus registered 133 donations with 73 first time donors; and Tarongers campus registered 97 donations with 58 first time donors. Numbers showcase ‘very positive results’ according to the Transfusion Centre, specially with the first time donation volume and the implication of students in awareness tasks growing promisingly.
During the Blood Donation Promotion Week, 70 students have participated as promoters to raise awareness among the university community about the importance of blood donation. To that end, they provided data such as the daily need of blood donation and busted myths and fears about donnation.
The initiative also includes training for promotes in a previous phase organised by the Student Information and Promotion Service (SEDI) in collaboration with the ValencianCommunity Transfusion Centre.
The Valencian Community Transfusion Centre visits the campuses of Universitat de València regularly to ease blood donation and promote continuous participation of the university community.
