UV team wins Spanish women's doubles final

The Universitat de València is proclaimed runner-up in tennis, athletics and men's indoor football teams at the Spanish University Sports Championships.

Tennis

The Tennis team of the Universitat de València has achieved a great success in its participation in theSpanish University Tennis Championship held in Zaragoza. Mar Ribera, student of the Degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, and Sandra Requena, of the Degree in Primary Education, won the final with a 6-2, 6-3 result against the pair from the Catholic University of San Antonio of Murcia.

Overall, the team made up of, in addition to Sandra and Mar, Gemma Lairón Navarro, Pablo Montañés Gadea, Ricard Soriano Rodríguez and Xavier Vila García; and coached by Elena Mir Mayor, has been proclaimed runner-up in both mixed teams and in men's and women's teams.

In addition, Pablo Montañés won the silver medal in the men's singles; Gemma Lairón, the bronze in the women's singles; and Mar Ribera and Ricard Soriano, bronze in the mixed doubles.

Athletics

Recently, the finals of the Spanish University Athletics Championships were also held at the University of Castilla La Mancha in Ciudad-Real. Also in this discipline, the athletes of the Universitat de València have been proclaimed runners-up in teams; but they have also won 3 golds and a silver. Alejandro Pérez Castellote, student of theDegree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences,was proclaimed champion in the 5,000 metres; Carmen Marco Mora, of theDegree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, wongold in the 200 metres; Pablo Drees Giménez, from theDegree in Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, won gold in the 400 metres hurdles; andEnrique Herreros Roig was runner-up in the 1,500 meters race.

Indoor Football

The Universitat de València has also been runner-up in the men's indoor football competition. The teams from the UV and the University of Castilla-La Mancha faced each other in the final match, which took place at the Albacete headquarters. The rival teamwon by the minimum in a very competitive final in which our team conceded only one goal.
