The Jardí Botànic of the Universitat de València was the host of the “No to war, no to political violence. For an ecofeminist world” meeting that took place on April 16. An international meeting that reunited Brazil´s first lady, Rosângela, ‘Janja’, Lula da Silva along with Minister Sira Rego, MEP (Member of the European Parliament) Irene Montero, and former Valencian Vice President Mónica Oltra.
The meeting was organized as part of a partnership with the Coletivo de Mulheres Brasileiras na Diáspora and the Brazilian Workers’ Party, in collaboration with Jorge Ramos Tolosa, professor of Contemporary History at the University of Valencia, and established Valencia as a leading international hub for dialogue between Europe and Latin America, with a special focus on female leaders committed to democracy, human rights, ecology, pacifism, women’s rights, and the freedom of the Palestinian people.
During the meeting, the participants shared the political experience from different contexts and addressed common challenges such as political violence against women, the defense of human rights, and the rejection of war as a means of conflict resolution.
The event, which strengthened international exchange, included a joint discussion on the rise of hate speech and the dynamics of political harassment. The speakers advocated for an ecofeminist agenda aimed at creating more just, inclusive, and sustainable societies.
