The 16th Biology Olympics bring together more than 450 participants of the Valencian Community on Friday

On Friday 15th of February, 245 Biology students of public and private high schools of Valencian Community take part in the regional stage test of the 16th Biology Olympics.

The test, which is carried out at the same time in Alacant with 121 participants, Castelló with 245 participants and València with 245 participants, will bring together 459 students of the Valencian Community, which is the students’ participation peak in Olympics in comparison to the rest of the Autonomous Communities.

The test in Valencia, that will start at 4.30 p. m., will take place in the ‘Aulario Interfacultatiu’ of the Burjassot-Paterna Campus of the Universitat de València.

It is an anonymous test and it consists in some questions on the Biology contents of the Spanish Bachiller, the last two years of the High School.  It will have 100 multiple-choice questions related to the subject indicated previously.

The academic commission composed by lecturers of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, which evaluate the Olympics, will determine the finalists and the winners of the Biology Olympics of València who will participate in the national phase. This year it will be celebrated in Palma de Mallorca from the 28th to the 31th of march of 2019.

Of the total of participants in the national phase, the best eight will be selected and will represent Spain in international phases in 2019. These students will have a specific training, theoretical and practical during this week in order to participate in the international phases.

In this case, the first four classifications will represent Spain in the 30th International Biology Olympics, which will take place in July in Szeged (Hungary). And the next four classifications will represent Spain in the 13th Iberoamerican Biology Olympics, which will take place in Bolivia.

The Biology Olympics of 2019 count with the collaboration of the Official Association of Biologists of the Valencian Community and of the Spanish Biology Olympics Association.
