The Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences has arranged a bus service from the Ontinyent Campus to the Blasco Ibáñez Campus, giving students from Ontinyent the opportunity to attend the sessions for free. The bus will depart at 8 a.m. from the Ontinyent car park and will return at 2 p.m. on both days.
On Wednesday morning, José Devís Devís, professor of the Department of Physical and Sports Education, will deliver a presentation entitled ‘Sustainable Transport in Valencia’, followed by Jaume Portet Tiebas, from the Valencian cycling association València en Bici, who will give the talk ‘Civil Society and the Promotion of Cycling in Valencia: A Retrospective’.
There will also be three discussion panels. One will focus on public health and urban cycling; another will analyse active cities and urban infrastructure; and the third, on Thursday, will address active transport and social justice. Researchers from the universities of Harvard, Colorado State and California Santa Cruz (USA), the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Hasselt University (Belgium), as well as Sonja Kahlmeier, a consultant for the World Health Organisation (WHO), will be among the participants in these discussions.
The event is part of the research project Prometeo 2021/026: Sustainable Transport in Valencia: Socio-environmental, Urban and Health Analysis of the 'Valenbisi' Service, funded by the Department of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment of the Valencian Regional Government. The Department of Physical and Sports Education and the FCAFE are also collaborating on this project.
