A congress analyses the responsibilities of Europe with the refugees

Next 17 and 18 February it will take place the ‘1st Congress on Human Rights: The rights of the refugees and the responsibilities of Europe.’ The congress is organized by the Department of Political and Legal Philosophy of the Universitat de València, the Institute of Human Rights of the Universitat de València (IDH) and the Multihuri project. The congress will be inaugurated on Friday at 9:30 with a conference of the professor Sami Naïr in the headquarters of the Valencia Bar Association.

In the conference, the French political expert will consider the advisability of reforming the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees which was approved in 1951. After this conference, the emeritus full university professor of the Universitat de València Jesús Ballesteros will analyse the bad relationship between capital and people flows. The director of the Institute of Human Rights of the Universitat de València, Javier de Lucas will close the interventions of the morning with the conference ‘Why should we talk about refugees right now? For what purpose?’ The congress will be closed on Saturday by the vice president of the Council and the provincial counsellor for Equality and Inclusive Policies of the Valencian Government, Mónica Oltra.
