A lecture by Josep L. Barona opens the centenary events of the National Institute of Health and Nutrition of Tokyo

Josep Lluís Barona, Professor of History of Science at the Universitat, gave the annual conference of the National Institute of Health and Nutrition of Tokyo Barona talked on Nutritional Policies in Japan (1916-1945). The international impact of Tadasu Saiki and the Imperial State Institute of Nutrition. This conference launched the Japanese institute’s centenary celebration events.

Between 2016 and 2020 Josep L. Barona has been appointed visiting Professor at the International Research Organization for Advanced Science and Technology (IROAST, Kumamoto, Japan), where he participates in scientific and academic activities aimed at introducing the history of science into postgraduate studies in Japan and strengthening links with the Universitat de València. Thus, Barona, who has researched the beginnings of the physiology of nutrition and food policies in Japan between the world wars, is invited every year to hold courses and conferences in the Asian country.
