On Wednesday 22 of May, the Valencian Corts will approve the Law of Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality. It will regulate the touristic sector in the Valencian Community in the following decades. On the occasion of the event, a session will take place at the Cultural Centre La Nau of the Universitat de València to debate about the new law, holiday apartments, and their social and economic impact. All parties involved will participate.

The law is enacted in a moment in which the touristic activity and their social and economic consequences are increasingly concerning the citizenship. On the one hand, a balance between visitors and neighbours should be considered. On the other hand, there are consequences on cohabitation and the increase in the cost of housing due to touristic apartments.

The session is organised by the research group of digital and collaborative economy platforms of the Universitat de València “ECOLABORA”, led by the professors Andrés Boix and Gabriel Dómenech.

The first panel of discussion (5:30 p.m.) will count with the interventions of the Business associations HOSBEC (hospitability employers) and AVAEC (touristic apartments); the neighbourhoods collectives Amics del Carme-Federación de Asocicaciones Vecinales and Entrebarris; and the researchers of the Universitat de Valencia Ana María de la Encarnación (ECOLABORA-Right) and Alberto Aznar Traval (ECONCULT-Economy).

The second panel of discussion (7:30), parliamentarians of all groups of the Valencian Corts (PP, PSPV, Compromís, Ciudadanos and Podem) will analyse the new law. Some of them are the spokesmen and managers processing the Law of Tourism in the Valencian Corts.

The panels of discussion will be dynamic to foster debate. Each participant will have several interventions. The general public will be able to ask the participants in a final round of questions. Entrance is free and limited due to the capacity of the room.
