The sessions, that will be take place between 9 and 18:30h, are about the activities about francophonie and worldwide awareness about French language; and specifically about the initiative ‘Rostros de la Francofonía en la Comunidad Valenciana 2017’ (People related to Francophonie in the Region of Valencia 2017).

The Department of French and Italian, with the collaboration of the Association Internationale des Études Québécoises and the Institut Français of Valencia, promotes this session in which there will be conferences given by professors Ana Monleón (about the current evolution and challenges of the francofonie) and Evelio Miñano (about the Roumanian writer of French expression Matei Visniec).

A group of young researchers will be focused on the relationships between plurilinguism, culture and mediation to talk about writers whose works are characterised by a balance between linguistics and culture such as Copi (Henry F. Vásquez), Claude Esteban (Rita R. Varela) or Beckett (Alexis Solé). And also, it will be possible to talk about bilingualism in Montréal (Andréanne Marchand), or French in conference interpreting (Cecilia Navarro).

There will be a special section in the presentation of the university degree in French of the Universitat de València for secondary school students. This activity is coordinated by Elena Baynat.

A second session about ‘La Francophonie, aujourd’hui’, addressed to África and the diaspora, is planned for 12 May 2017.
