ACPV and the University of Valencia renew the working agreement in the field of language policy.

The agreement signed in the historic building of La Nau has renewed the roadmap and work on language policy.

The meeting, that took place the last july 28th in the historical building of the University of Valencia “La Nau”, was celebrated  to renew the roadmap and joint work on language policy by ACPV and the University of Valencia, which we share with the rest of Valencian public universities.

Until now, the work with the valencian public universities has resulted satisfactory  and some of the milestones initiated in 2015, when the document " For a new and effective language equality law. Basic principles and areas of practical action". This document has functioned as a roadmap and guide for the objectives promoted by ACPV in language policy with the support of Valencian public universities.

On the one hand, and after carrying out negotiations, meetings and public acts aimed at achieving the objectives set out in the previous document, the approval of the new Valencian Civil Service Law has been achieved. This law establishes the obligation to accredit the linguistic competence in Valencian in order to access a position in the public administration and, therefore, the civil servants are competent in the two official languages of the autonomous region. Now we are in the moment of discussion and approval of the regulation of the law, in which ACPV wants to collaborate positively. The regulation will allow the convocation of competitive examinations with linguistic competence.

On the other hand, we are moving in the right direction towards the reciprocity of broadcasts between À Punt, TV3 and IB3. We have also made significant progress on this point, thanks to the desire of the current management of À Punt and its Governing Board. In addition, last week a meeting was celebrated with the Minister Vicent Marzà, where we were informed of the favorable report of the Generality's legal advice in favor of reciprocity. Therefore, only the last step remains, which would be the signing of the agreement by President Ximo Puig.

Finally, ACPV celebrates the progressive entry and collaboration of the Valencian Government in the Ramon Llull Institute. At this point, this is already a reality thanks to the economic contribution of the Department of Culture in the Institute, which is equivalent to that of the Balearic Government. The only remaining step is the formalization of the Council's entry into the Institute and the signing of the agreement by President Puig.

At the meeting we prepared the beginning of the next academic year with the aim of reviewing the language policy program of ACPV, with the endorsement of the Valencian public universities, and preparing the strategic plan of language policy for the coming years. Therefore, ACPV and the UV agreed to organize a language policy meeting at the beginning of the academic year.

Finally, the rector of the UV, Mavi Mestre, expressed to ACPV her satisfaction for the collaboration that both institutions have maintained during the last years, which she has described as a "lasting relationship". She also expressed her desire to "continue with these good relations" and "continue achieving milestones such as those achieved in a path of common goals between ACPV and the UV to improve the Valencian society and the situation of our language".
