Adela Cortina and Margarita Salas, ‘honoris causa’ by The Pontifical University of Salamanca

The Pontifical University of Salamanca grants on Friday 22 of March as Doctor Honoris Causa two women references on their discipline: Adela Cortina, professor of Philosophy and Ethics, and Margarita Salas, professor in Molecular Biology. The session will begin at 12 a.m. in the ‘Aula Magna’ of the university.
Adela Cortina is an ‘international reference in the studies about Ethics and Political Philosophy’ in the words of the university. Professor of the Universitat de València (currently retired and emeritus professor) and a member of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, has elaborated a civil ethics suitable for pluralistic societies, her social commitment is evident in her scientific work: ‘a contribution of a huge philosophical value’ adds the academic institution.
Some of her works are Aporofobia, el rechazo al pobre. Un desafío para la democracia, Ética mínima, Ética sin moral, Ética aplicada y democracia radical, Ciudadanos del mundo, Por una ética del consumo, Ética de la razón cordial, Las fronteras de la persona, Justicia cordial, Neuroética y neuropolítica and ¿Para qué sirve realmente la ética?, awarded with the National Essay Prize in 2014.
