Alzira is the venue for the Executive council of the Universitat de València

Last Monday, the Alzira Town Hall received the Executive council of the Universitat de València in the Salón Noble of the town hall. It is the first time that a Council is hold outside the university, an initiative that reflects the decision of bringing the Universitat closer to small towns and cities.

On the occasion of the Capital of Valencian Culture 2022, Alzira gave to the UV the invitation for celebrating this meeting in the capital of the Ribera. This city and the University have shared projects before such as the program Unisocietat or the patronage for the Prize for the Popularization of Science, which is classified with the Literary prizes city of Alzira, among others. Both entities renew the current conventions and start the possibility of new synergies.

 

The meeting has been attended by the complete principal team, ran by the principal Mavi Mestre. Diego Gómez, mayor of Alzira, opened the act and presented the place to the attendants placing value on the cultural heritage of Alzira. Then, the principal Mavi Mestre expressed her gratitude for the invitation of the Town hall of Alzira and signed the Libro de Oro of the city. Both, the mayor and the principal maintained that the Universitat and the Town Hall keep very close bonds, based on training and research.

 

The principal Mavi Mestre has also stated that the Universitat de València is strongly deep-rooted in the territory, and has explained that the commemoration of the Council being celebrated for the first time outside the Universitat reflects the decision of leaving the Nau for being closer to small towns and cities. In this sense, Mestre highlights the priority that the invitation of the Alzira Town Hall had for the Univeristat de València, which wants to keep working with culture, language and tradition.

 

The meeting, which took place privately, concluded with the visit to the Municipal Museum of Alzira, MUMA and in the emblematic walls of the city.
