Ana Lluch recognized for her professional career

The Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, Ana Lluch, was recognized with ‘Certamen Médico’ (Medical Contest) award for all her professional career in a ceremony celebrated on Wednesday at the València City Council.

On Wednesday, 27 November, the Emeritus Professor of Medicine’s Department of the Faculty of Medicine of Universitat de València, Ana Lluch, was recognized with the ‘Certamen Médico’ award for all her professional career dedicated to Valencian medicine. The award is promoted by the Fundación del Ilustre Colegio de Médicos de Valencia (ICOMV) (Valencian Illustrious Medical Association Foundation) and counts on the collaboration of València City Council.

Lluch got the recognition by the Mayor of València, Joan Ribó, with the President of the ICOMV Foundation, Mercedes Hurtado, in a ceremony held at the Valencian Municipality Chamber and had the presence of the Principal of Universitat de València, M.ª Vicenta Mestre, with another important figures of the Valencian medical context such as the Healthcare Minister Ana Barceló, Valencian hospital managers and several representatives of different political and health institutions.

The ceremony started with the speech of the Healthcare Councillor, Emiliano García, who pointed out the important collaboration between Medical Association and City Council for celebrating this deserved recognition to Valencian medical figures.

After the reading of the jury’s commended by the secretary of the ICOMV Foundation, Francisco Fornés. The Mayor Joan Ribó with the President Mercedes Hurtado gave to Ana Lluch the diploma that certifies her as awarded.

During her speech, the President of ICOMV and of the Foundation wanted to highlight the importance of the doctor Lluch figure in the advancements of cancer research. ‘Humanity, closeness, dedication and professionalism are adjectives that determine the medical work of Dr. Lluch’, ensured Hurtado.

‘A good medicine can’t be have without a good research and vice versa, it’s needed a research for improving the life quality of the patients’, pointed out Ana Lluch in her speech. Also, the Professor highlighted that ‘good communication with the patient is essential to mitigate their fears’.

Likewise, the Mayor of the city ended the tribute enhanced the effort and humanity of the awarded, as well as her important contribution to breast cancer field. Similarly, Ribó thanked her implication and dedication of Ana Lluch speaking on all the Valencian citizenship.

The awarded

The doctor Ana Lluch Hernández is Emeritus Professor of Medicine at Universitat de València and Oncology expert, apart from researcher of Incliva Biomedical Research Institute. Also, she is the Department Manager of Medical Hematology-Oncology Service of Hospital Clínic de València.

The awarded, specialized in breast cancer, counts on different awards and recognitions at national and local level, such as the Medal of Universitat in 2014, the Recognition Award to the Professional Career by the Medical Association or the Isabel Ferrer Award, granted by the Valencian Social Wellness Ministry Department. She is also Honorary Citizen of València and was decorated in 2017 as Honorary Member of ICOMV.

Apart from her work as medicine professional and Professor, she has participated in different publications, even at worldwide level, related to, mainly, breast cancer.

On the other hand, the oncology expert has contributed to huge advances in breast cancer diagnosis and assistance. She cooperate in the development of the Early Diagnosis Plan for Breast Cancer in the Valencian Community, progressively provided to more than 70% of healthy women in the community. Also, through different programmes, she has participated in defining the basic lines of action and care protocols of excellence to follow in the handling of this disease.

Likewise, the last September, the Valencian Healthcare Ministry Department announced the creation of Ana Lluch Grant, which allows MIR doctor to do a doctorate at CIPF (Principe Felipe Research Center) and in that way approaching the oncologist research to Medicine. This grant counts on the collaboration of INCLIVA, center where she leads the Breast Cancer Research Group.
