Ana Sales and Javier Serrano have garnered the 8th José María Bernabé Research Prize
Last 27th September, it took place the José María Bernabé Research Prize-giving ceremony organized by the Institute for Local Development and sponsored by Petrer’s Local Government. This year is the 8rd edition and Ana Sales Ten and José Javier Serrano Lara, who are lecturers of the University of Valencia, share the first place.

This prize has the goal of promoting research in youth people and the ones who lead their projects to social sciences. It is about recognizing excellence in students and doctorates from the universities which form Inter-University for Local Development (IIDL), Universitat de València and Universitat Jaume I (UJI). José María Bernabé, prize’s name, was a Valencian researcher from Petrer. He was a distinguished geographer and local development expert. The award recognizes the worth of all the research contributions related to the IIDL subjects and it lies in the publication of the winning projects.
Before the prize giving, Quino Palací Soler, president of the Alicante’s Young Entrepreneurs Federation, gave the conference: “Abordando los objetivos del desarrollo sostenible desde lo local”.
The ceremony was presided over Fernando Portillo, Culture Councillor of Petrer’s Local Government, and during the celebration, the Geography’s Department director, Juan Miguel Albertos, remembered Professor José María Bernabé, who died years ago, but his many disciples keep his memory alive. The prize was given by the directors of IIDL’s both headquarters, Vicente Budí and María Dolores Pitarch.
