Erasmus students in the University have the chance to discover Valencian heritage, cultural and landscape values by trips within ‘Erasmus al Territori’ programme. After visiting the Albufera and Terres dels Alforins, student will visit Bocairent and Xàtiva.

The Albufera of València was the first trip in the programme, held in September. 38 Erasmus students attended the trip in which professor Javier Armengol (Department of Microbiology and Ecology) gave a guided tour. They visited the Centre d’Interpretació Racó de l’Olla, the Mallades, the Muntanyeta dels Sants, etc. and discover the barracas, rural and traditional Valencian buildings and enjoyed a traditional meal in El Palmar and a boat ride through the lake.

On Saturday 10, 25 Erasmus and International students went to Els Alforins, where they had the chance to see a very extensive archaeological and ethnological heritage made up of the areas of Fontanars dels Alforins, the Font de la Figuera and Moixent, a natural area that includes landscape, weather, economy, culture and tradition. Students visited the Bastida de les Alcusses –the biggest Iberian settlement in the Valencian Country– and the Museu Històric Etnològic de la Font de la Figuera, where they tasted wine at a local winery and products typical of the Alforins.

The following tours will be to Bocairent on November 17 and to Xàtiva on November 24. These leisure and educational tours bring students the chance to know Valencian highlights beyond the city of València such as heritage, gastronomy and landscapes. Those interested can register for as many tours as they desire, which cover transport, insurance, lunch (local gastronomy) and guided tours in the price.

‘Erasmus al Territori’ programme is organised by the Universitat de València through the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society and the Vice-Principal for Internationalization and Cooperation in collaboration with the Language Centre of the Universitat de València and the city councils of Xàtiva and Bocarient and the l'Associació de viticultors i productors de les Terres dels Alforins.
