On Wednesday 9 of May, the well-known professor of CSIC Avelino Corma will teach the conference “How we fight the energetic challenge in the short and medium terms”. He is an honoured doctor by the Universitat de València and has also received the Princess of Asturias Award. The conference will take place at the Main Hall of the Cultural Centre La Nau on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Amics de La Nau Gran. The event will be presented by the Vice-principal of the Universitat de València, Francisco Tomás.

These days, there is more technology than ever before to provide solutions to the population growth, the climate change and the lack of resources. The environmental commitment is clear and there is no turning back. This is the reason why technology must give sustainable answers to the demand of energy of an increasing population. The current levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere must be lowered drastically by decreasing the emissions and the use of fossil fuels, while progressively increasing clean energies of solar, eolian and biomass sources.

In a near future, technological progress is expected to happen in the areas of photovoltaic cells and power storage. We will only be able to achieve a more sustainable world with universal access to energy, health, food and water through Science, technology and education in the consumption.

This conference is integrated within the series of activities that the association Amics de La Nau Gran has organised to commemorate its 10th anniversary. The association is integrated by more than 1500 people. It has organised a wide open programme of activities for the general public including panels of discussion, exhibitions, concerts and theatres in different spots of the city.
