The Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society, has organised the sessions on El Tribunal de las Aguas y su X Aniversario como Patrimonio Inmaterial de la Humanidad (The Water Tribunal and its 10th Anniversary as Intangible Heritage of Humanity) in Quart de Poblet, Picanya and Alboraia. Professors of the Universitat de València and jurists of the Water Tribunal have participated.

La Casa del Conde de Zanoguera of Alboraia hosts this Thursday 12th December the last of the four days of awareness on the Water Tribunal.  The Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Society, Jorge Hermosilla; the president of the Water Tribunal, Onofre Cubells; and the Major of Alboraia, Miguel Chavarria will open the ceremony at 6 p.m.

The session held the projection of the audiovisual Docufòrum: El Tribunal de les Aigües de l’Horta de València, (Docufòrum: The Water Tribunal of the plain of Valencia), which is a video made in high definition by the Universitat de València that deals, with a documentary style, both the historical, social and cultural significance of the Water Tribunal, as well as other aspects related to the Horta, such as the agricultural landscape, the relationship between the city and the Horta or traditional irrigation.

The Alboraia session will hold the conferences of the Professor of the Department of Administrative and Procedural Law of the Universitat de València, José Bonet; Luis Pablo Martínez, technician of the Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Government); and the jurist of the Water Tribunal, Maria José Ordeig, secretary of the Rovella Acequia.

The Vice-Principal Jorge Hermosilla and the President of the Water Tribunal, Onofre Cubells, have both highlighted the success of this programme.  In Quart de Poblet, Picanya and Llíria the assistants filled the municipal halls, which evidences the interest of the Valencian society for the Water Tribunal of València, responsible for more than a millennium for ensuring the distribution of water in the Valencian orchard.

The president of the Water Tribunal, Onofre Cubells, expressed his gratitude to the Universitat de València for “the collaborative work in the laudable mission of disseminating the patrimonial values of the Water Tribunal of the plain of Valencia, heritage of all Valencians”.

The previous days were held on 21st November in Quart de Poblet, 28th November in Llíria and 4th December in Picanya. Along with Jorge Hermosilla and Onofre Cubells, the sessions were also opened by the Majors of the hosting councils:   Carmen Martínez (Quart de Poblet), Manuel Civera (Llíria), Josep Almenar (Picanya). This initiative is part of the plan of activities and commemorative events that the UV is carrying out during 2019, in collaboration with other institutions, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the declaration of the Water Tribunal as Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO.
