The Best Global Universities ranking places the University as the third best in Spain in Physics and Chemistry

The Universitat de València is the first university in Valencia, the fifth in Spain and the 118 in Europe, according to the Best Global Universities ranking of the U.S. News & World Report. By subject, the institution stands out in Agricultural Sciences (first Spanish and twenty-second best in Europe), in Physics and Chemistry (third state-wide and among the 200 best worldwide) and in Economics and Business (fourth in Spain).

The Best Global Universities ranking analyses 1,250 universities from more than 60 countries, through 13 indicators: 9 bibliometric, accounting for 65% of the total weight, 2 of reputation with 25%, and 2 of excellence (10% of the assessment). The classification is elaborated by the magazine to respond to the growing demand of North American students who are considering enrolling in universities outside the country.

The indicators in which the UV stands out are the regional research reputation (global position 142), total citations (212), and in the indicator of publications and articles among the 1% most cited, where it has advanced to the world position 225.

By subject, the University of Valencia also stands out in Clinical Medicine (fourth position in Spain) and has advanced in Biology and Biochemistry to the sixth place in Spain. In Molecular Biology and Genetics, and in Environment and Ecology, areas not assessed in 2017, the academic institution also ranks sixth in Spain.

The Best Global Universities is headed globally by Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University. In the European sphere at the forefront are the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge and the Imperial College London. In Spain, the only institutions of higher education that surpass the Universitat de València are the Barcelona, Pompeu Fabra, Autonomous of Barcelona and Autonomous of Madrid universities. On a worldwide scale, the University of Valencia ranks number 264.
