The Universitat de València will be today, Thursday (March 21), one of the venues for the Cangur (Kangaroo) 2019 mathematical test. This initiative is aimed at students from the six levels ranging from first year of Educació Secundària Obligatòria (Spanish secondary education) to the second year of batxiller (Spanish upper secondary school education). Aproximately 700 students will pass through the classrooms of the Universitat, and will take the tests in the classrooms of the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences and in the Interfacultative Classroom, in the Campus of Burjassot-Paterna.

More than eleven thousand students will take part in the test throughout València, which has meant a record attendance, as it has increased by almost two thousand participants compared to the previous year. More than 11,000 Valencian little kangaroos will be mobilised from a total of 232 educational centres in almost all the Valencian regions.  From Morella or Vinaroz, to the north, in Pinoso or Albatera, to the south, through Alcoi or Gandia.

The Cangur test, called by the Catalan Mathematics Society, and organized by the respective Balearic, Valencian and Catalan commissions, is an activity that aims to stimulate and motivate the learning of mathematics through problems.

In addition to the successful participation, the Cangur tests are also an example of collaboration: 4 public universities (Jaume I, Politècnica de Valencia, Universitat de Valencia and Universitat de Alicante) as well as the Mathematical Education Society Al-Khwarizmi participate in the organization.
