Carmen Orte and Lluís Ballester launch their book about pornography and its influence on teenagers at the Universitat

Carmen Orte Socias and Lluís Ballester Brage launched on June 17th at the Universitat de València their book Nueva pornografía y cambios en las relaciones interpersonales (New pornography and changes in interpersonal relationships). The book, in which nearly 2,5000 young people from seven autonomous communities between the ages of 16 and 29 were interviewed, mostly heterosexual, highlights, among others, to an increase in ‘wolf packs’ in Spain, and that almost 70% of the Spanish youth have seen porn on the Internet, first accessed at age 8, but its consumption is widespread at 14. Porn loaded with sexism and risk practices that generates an increase in the consumption of prostitution and changes in interpersonal relationships.

The Equality Unit of the Universitat de València launched the book on June 17th at the Principal Peset Hall of Residence The event was attended by both of the authors, as well as Carmen Montón, former Minister of Health, and Elena Martínez, vice-Principal for Equality, Diversity and Sustainability.

This work is the result of collaboration between entities of the Tercer Sector de Acción Social of seven Spanish autonomous communities, represented by the Red Jóvenes e Inclusión and the Universitat de les Illes Balears (Youth and Inclusion Network) with the aim of analysing how the new pornography distributed on the Internet has impacted adolescents.
