This chair, signed between the Valencian Government and the University of Valencia, focuses on delving into specific deficiencies, differentiated uses and, ultimately, what digital skills the population has (or is lacking), especially women, in the Valencian Community. The days of next May 7, which will take place virtually and whose access is free after registering at https://go.uv.es/gencatic/jornades2021, will begin at 11:00 a.m.

The rector of the University of Valencia, Mavi Mestre, and the Regional Minister for Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society, Carolina Pascual, will be in charge of making the official presentation and starting the conference, which will be led by the director of the Chair, Silvia Rueda Pascual. After this presentation, the conference will begin with a talk given by the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, Carme Artigas.

Next, the study on the situation of the Digital Gender Gap in the Valencian Community carried out by the Chair in 2021 will be presented. According to the data obtained in this study, the digital divide continues to exist in the Valencian Community and is far from disappearing. These differences grow when it comes to people, particularly women, in vulnerable situations.

The session will continue with a round table that will focus on analysing the existing challenges to achieve the digitisation of all people, through the improvement of their digital skills, as a starting point to begin to better understand this situation and offer possible lines of action to the Valencian Government.

The closing of the day will be made by the general director for the Fight against the Digital Divide, María Muñoz and the vice-rector for Innovation and Transfer of the University of València, M. Dolores Real. This round table, which will be moderated by Anabel Forte Deltell, professor of the Department of Statistics and Operations Research, will have the participation of Pilar Almenar Vara, journalist and director of the #Impresas project; Jose A. Estévez, Manager of Technology and Social Innovation of Ayuda en Acción; Mª Fernanda Jaramillo Polo, director of Social & Tech, representing the Spanish Federation of Popular Universities (FEUP) and the team of the Feminist School EFE FEUP, and Vicente A. Querol Vicente, director of the Chair of Geographical Digital Gap between the Universitat Jaume I and the Valencian Government.

The closing of the conference will be made by the general director for the Fight against the Digital Gap, María Muñoz and the vice-rector for Innovation and Transfer of the University of Valencia, M. Dolores Real.
