Christian Felber promotes the Chair of Economy for the Common Good. In his presentation, he will be accompanied by María Dolores Parra, General Director for Internationalisation at the Ivace; Joan Ramon Sanchis, Director of the Chair of Economy for the Common Good; María Amigo, President of the Valencian Association for the promotion of the Economy for the Common Good and Alberto Luciana, Valencian representative of Economy for the Common Good in international trade issues.

Christian Felber is an Austrian professor of Economy, dancer, writer and disseminator in Economy and Sociology issues. He is specialised in sustainable economy and alternatives for financial markets. He has developed a new international economic model known as Economy for the Common Good. He is a founding member of the Austrian justice movement Global Attack and creator of the so-called democratic banking.

In his new book against protectionism, he refutes the myths of the free market by proposing an alternative economic model. Felber defends that there should be less barriers for countries and companies that contribute to human rights, sustainable development, fair distribution of wealth and cultural diversity or numerous employment.   On the other hand, there should be more trade barriers for those who don’t respect human rights, climate criminals and those who exploit others.

Felber indicates that society must recover the principles of community and support ethical trade. This objective should not be understood as an end, but a tool to achieve more important goals. These goals include human rights, sustainable development, social cohesion and justice.  The author also criticizes the current policies and international agreements because they don’t support nor protect human rights and not even require its compliance.
