Next Wednsday, May 6, at 7.30pm, Gandia is hosting a new edition of its traditional Spring Concert which this year will be performed by the Valentia Quintet, a chamber ensemble made up of young musicians affiliated with the University of Valencia Philharmonic Orchestra (OFUV).

The concert will take place in the Palau Ducal (Duc alfons el Vell 1 street), admission is free until capacity is reached, and no invitation is required.

The Valentia Quintet consists of Sandra García Mansilla (flute), Olga Cristina Moliner Compañ (oboe), Noemí Zarzo Alapont (clarinet), Hugo Campos Suñer (bassoon), and José Vicente Vila Muñoz (horn). Founded in 2025, this ensemble emerged from its members’ shared artistic desire to promote chamber music and bring the wind quintet repertoire to new audiences. Their project combines interpretive rigor, creativity, and a clear commitment to outreach, with programs that bridge tradition and contemporary music.

Its members have training in higher conservatories and a track record linked to various young orchestras and prestigious groups, both at the regional and state level, as well as experience in collaborations with professional formations.

The concert´s program offers a tour through different styles and eras through five representative composers. Includes works by Franz Danzi, a leading figure in classicism and the repertoire for wind quintet; Jacques Ibert, with brilliant writing full of contrasts, and György Ligeti, one of the key figures of the 20th century, known for his timbric exploration and sound innovation.

Enrique Granados completes the program with an evocative look inspired by the Goyesco universe, and a Brazilian composer Julio Medaglia, that which brings a more contemporary and colorful dimension with influences from Latin American music.
Thanks to these artists, The Spring Concert reinforces its commitment to quality music and the promotion of young performers, while offering the public a diverse and accessible musical experience in a landmark heritage setting such as the Ducal Palace of Gandia
